This came as expected, but still somewhat soon. Honda decided to reveal the tenth generation of their Civic compact car, and what’s the better place than New York? 2016 Honda Civic concept looks really great, but don’t get your hopes high as production-ready model will still be slightly toned down, flair wise. The new Honda Civic 2016 concept is a step in right direction; and this is an understatement. When everything is considered, it is evident that Honda has some big plans for the U.S. market. Apart from new Civic and its Type R relative, they are redesigning and reintroducing plenty of other models, including ones under Acura badge.
2016 Honda Civic concept redesign
Concept model really looks stunning, we have already mentioned that. Coming in blinding lime green, and with sporty black grille, the compact is really showcasing some style. Spoiler and light bridge at the rear most likely won’t make it to production, but yet again, they show the commitment on car’s part. Other big news is return of the hatchback to U.S. shores. This will make new Honda Civic 2016 a three-bodies selection car with sedan, coupe and hatchbacks available.
Even though interior wasn’t revealed, changes are imminent. Materials should remain similar, but cabin layout and colors are supposed to be different. 2016 Honda Civic concept most likely has the feature list of its predecessor. Nothing new should be expected in this department as the compact is supposed to offer a full infotainment system with touch screen and navigation (at least in top grades) and all available connectivity options (Bluetooth, USB, smartphone integration). All this will be bolstered with very rich safety feature list which includes a standard rearview camera, forward-collision warnings and lane-departure warnings. Yes, you read it right; all this will be standard from the get-go.
Honda Civic 2016 concept
There are couple of really big news for the new Honda Civic 2016 concept, and first ones can be found under the hood. Japanese have introduced their all-new Earth Dreams Technology turbocharged engine to the compact. 1.5-liter turbo four unit is supposed to bring more than 143 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque to the table, which outgoing model delivered with its naturally aspirated 1.8L unit. Moreover, new Civic will be available with 6-speed automatic transmission as well which clearly shows you that people in Honda decided to bolster the car with some sporty performance.
2016 Honda Civic concept mpg and price
It is early to talk about fuel efficiency of the new Honda Civic 2016 concept as new batch of Earth Dreams powertrains haven’t been properly tested yet. However, they shouldn’t be far from current 31 mpg combined with manual gearbox. The 2016 Honda Civic concept price will also stick and range between $19,000 and $23,000 is to be expected.
