There are a lot of cars in the crossover SUV market and all of these have something to say to the buyers. Some of them are funky while others are calculated and ready for the road. Well, the small CX5 has something from the both sides and with the 2016 Mazda CX5 update this becomes clearer than ever. The Mazda CX5 2016 design changed slightly to make a much more appealing car while the engines have been slightly updated in order to have a better fuel consumption as well as to give them a more refined character.
2016 Mazda CX5 Exterior
The exterior of the 2016 Mazda CX5 will also receive a small facelift which isn’t as obvious at a first glance. It will feature recognizable KODO design while the main bolder changes will be on the front grille. However, design of this Mazda’s crossover SUV reminds us to the concept that was originally unveiled in 2011. This style is actually nice because it gave the car even more character with subtle LED accents in the eye-like headlights and taillights as well as bigger 19-inch aluminum wheels, a new lip for the front bumper and also a dual exhaust for the top end model. The Mazda CX5 2016 is available in nine different colors including two new colors Sonic Silver Metallic and Titanium Flash Mica.
Interior
Interior of the new 2016 Mazda CX5 will be different but it will have influences of the older model. The parking brake will now be electric in order to save space while room in the back grew by a small margin thanks to a slightly different pair of front seats. The standard equipment will offer pretty much the same things as before with a few minor differences such as electric front seats and a rear view camera, while higher trim models come with optional steering-wheel controls, leather upholstery, Bose audio system with 9-speakers, power driver seat, dual-zone climate control, Sirius satellite radio, and many more. The new Mazda CX5 2016 has great safety ratings which were carried over from the previous model. Safety features include blind-spot monitor system, adaptive cruise control, Mazda Connect system, and forward-collision warning with automatic braking.
Mazda CX5 2016 Specs
Engine wise, 2016 Mazda CX5 will retain both upgraded engines from the current generation. That means that the base crossover SUV will get a 2.0-liter 4-inline while the other option will be a 2.5-liter 4-inline. Both of these SKYACTIV-G engines will get a better fuel consumption by about 3 to 5% which may not seem like much but it does make a difference in the long run. The smaller engine received a small bump in power to 155 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 150 lb-ft of torque at 4,000. The bigger engine is able to deliver 184 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 185 lb-ft of torque at 3,250 rpm. Both engines will come as standard with front-wheel-drive system while the all-wheel-drive is available only with 2.5-liter engine. Base 2.0-liter engine comes only with 6-speed manual gearbox while a 6-speed automatic is reserved only with bigger 2.5-liter powerplant.
2016 Mazda CX5 release date and price
The base price for new 2016 Mazda CX5 will be near price of the 2015 model. You should expect to pay around $22,000 for a base crossover SUV. I know it may seem a bit too much for such a car but when you start to analyze it, it is starting to make a lot of sense. The Mazda CX5 2016 is going to come to dealerships in the first quarter of 2015.
