Even though most people expected that 2016 Ford Fusion is going to get a facelift, people down in blue oval made a bold decision and decided not to change the winning combination. Indeed, Fusion is arguably, the most handsome mid-size sedan in U.S. market, and while this segment generally requires constant updates and mandatory facelift every two or three years, this still seems like a logical choice. The new Ford Fusion 2016 remains as attractive as it was these last few years. This is one very good looking mid-size sedan with an affordable price tag and more than solid fuel economy ratings, especially from its hybrid units.

Aston Martin grille and thin, handsome headlamps make frontal fascia of the new Ford Fusion 2016 what it is. Profile remains the same, and so does rear end with large tail-lights and inconspicuous bumper. All in all, Fusion is so good looking that it doesn’t really warrant the change. There are ten different 2016 Ford Fusion colors available: Bronze Fire, Deep Impact Blue, Guard, Ingot Silver, Magnetic, Oxford White, Ruby Red, Shadow Black, Tectonic and White Platinum.

Interior remains unchanged as well, even though this part of 2016 Ford Fusion was likely to go through heaviest of changes. Familiar setup with large control panel and optional 8-inch touch screen display with available navigation is still offered like in most Ford’s models. Safety features include plenty of options like a rearview camera, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping system, blind-spot monitors, cross-traffic alerts, active park assist and adaptive cruise control.

New Ford Fusion 2016 specs review

When it comes to new Ford Fusion 2016 powertrain lineup, it includes no less than three conventional engines with both hybrid and plug-in versions. Base engine is 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that puts up 175 hp and the same number in rotational force output. Optional engine is 1.5-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder which makes 181 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque, while top grades get 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder delivering 240 hp and 231 lb-ft of torque. Both conventional and plug-in hybrids get the same 2.0-liter Atkinson Cycle 4-cylinder engine and the same 88 kW permanent magnet AC synchronous motor, but they get different battery packs. Conventional hybrids get small 1.4 kWh unit, while plug-ins benefit from 7.6 kWh lithium-ion cell. They move through font wheels and CVT transmission, while conventional lineup gets 6-speed automatic gearbox. However, apart from all other models, those with 2.0-liter turbo engine can get optional all-wheel drive.

When it comes to fuel economy of the new Ford Fusion 2016 it is best with hybrids, naturally. 42 mpg combined are the figures of conventional hybrids, while plug-ins return 88 MPGe. Both base and stronger turbo engines rate the same, at 26 mpg combined, while internal combustion leader, 1.5L turbo unit is rated at 28 mpg combined. Prices have gone up by paltry $100 and now start from $22,110. Hybrids are more affordable, however, and 2016 Fusion Energi Titanium now costs $35,730; $900 less than last year.
