The Chevy SS 2016 isn’t one of the most well known cars in the United States but it surely managed to make an impression with its launch back in 2014 when it was launched after a 4 year period of no SS model. The 2016 Chevy SS is just going to be a moderate update of the current car which will be still based on the same VF Commodore as before but this time with a few cool upgrades which are going to make it a bit better.
2016 Chevy SS redesign
On the outside, the 2016 Chevy SS will be quite similar to the current generation meaning that it will be basically just a re-badged Holden. This isn’t exactly a bad thing mostly because that car is already quite good looking and not too flashy which give it a certain sleeper aspect to it. The wheels will be the same as before while the back of the car will receive a new exhaust system which will feature a quad-pipe layout. The front fascia of the Chevy SS 2016 on the other hand will only get a honeycomb grille and that’s about it.The interior of the 2016 Chevy SS on the other hand will be on par with other full-size sport sedans. It will include in the base spec features such as automatic air conditioning, satellite navigation, Pandora radio which basically allows you to listen to your favorite tunes pretty much anywhere, an auto-park feature which lets the car park itself if needed as well as a fully leather interior with steering wheel controls and also aluminum inserts, giving it a good premium feel.
Chevy SS 2016 specs
The Chevy SS 2016 will have a different engine than the Australian counterpart. It will use the same unit from the Corvette, meaning it will be a 6.2 liter V8 which will put out up to 420 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque which is right the average of its class. The engine will be mated either to a 6 speed automatic or a brand new 6 speed manual which will be newly introduced on it. The performance figures are expected to be quite good, with a top speed of at least 160 miles per hour and a 0 to 60 MPH time of less than 5 seconds for the automatic gearbox. The only drawback is that there is no all wheel drive system available but this isn’t that big of a deal considering the rear wheel drive system features a limited slip differential and electronic assists for bad weather driving.
2016 Chevy SS release date and price
Just like before, the asking price for the new Chevy SS 2016 will be around $44,000 which is quite low when you consider that this car can easily compete with an AMG Mercedes. The 2016 Chevy SS release date for the 2016 model is going to be in the last quarter of 2015.
