2016 Nissan Altima refresh, redesign, mpg

Midsize segment appears to be pretty much crowded, but for Japanese carmaker Nissan there won’t be any issues because the new 2016 Nissan Altima is a piece of perfection in every way. The fifth generation of this model was well received among customers, because of its quiet and smooth ride, but with the new generation, the company will definitely steal the show. The new model will suffer changes in terms of exterior, and technology. Even though the company hasn’t shared close details, we still have a lot to talk about. Key competitors for the new Nissan Altima 2016 will be Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Ford Fusion and Chevy Malibu.

2016 Nissan Altima refresh

The company hasn’t said much about the possible way the new 2016 Nissan Altima could look like, but we assume that they won’t change the overall design of the vehicle to such an extent. However, we do expect changes and refreshments. If the rumors are true, the company will focus on more refined body lines of the car. Among many changes, we will see revamped version of the hood creases. The grille will also receive a new design, together with new headlights with LED technology. We expect less chrome on the nose. We will also see redesigned fog lights. The vehicle will still have the gracious beltline together with hunched rear trademarks. The invading trunk lid will now be removed even though this feature is unique for a vehicle of this kind. The vehicle will also get exhaust outlets that will be integrated into the bumper of the car.

Redesign

Details about the cabin and overall interior changes are still scarce, but we are quite sure that there will be many refreshments out there. For this kind of vehicle, there is always enough room for refreshments though. The cabin will now offer additional headroom and legroom. Besides minor refreshments in the dashboard area, the vehicle will be equipped with a great number of standard equipment. Unfortunately, the final list of features is unavailable but there are many rumors that the list will be long. We can expect improvements in terms of safety and infotainment features. The new 2016 Nissan Altima will be offered in several trim levels with bunch of technological features and equipment. We eagerly wait for the company to release more details about the cabin of the newbie.

New Nissan Altima 2016 mpg specs

It appears that under the hood of the new Nissan Altima 2016 things won’t be significantly changed or rather, things won’t be changed at all. The same two engines from the previous generation will ensure power for the newcomer. Those are the 2.5-liter four-banger and the 3.5-liter V-6 engines. The four-cylinder engine is capable of producing 182 hp and 180 pound-feet of torque. The second engine delivers up to 270 hp and 251 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy of the engines is rated at 38 mpg, which is much better than the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. Both of these engines will come together with Xtronic CVT transmission, first time used in 2015 Altima.

2016 Nissan Altima release date and price

According to official announcements we can expect refreshed 2016 Nissan Altima to be officially presented later this year together with smaller Sentra. With couple upgrades and some new features it will be well competitive in its class. Good thing is that we don’t expect that price will rise together with refreshment. The new Nissan Altima 2016 should cost as 2015 year model, from $23.000 for base model and $32,000 for top level model with V6 engine.
