The Best James Bond Car Chase Scene

James Bond is arguably the most recognizable spy in the world. He was first introduced to the world 50 years ago and is still going strong. There is a lot to say about James Bond, from his name, world famous martinis and the ever lovely Bond girls. But the most talked about a factor of the Bond films are the cars, and in particular, the car chase scenes Bond fans wait for with bated breath.

There have been more than 60 car chase scenes in the Bond franchise so far, and we all still want more. One thing’s for sure, 007 would not be himself is there wasn’t revving the engine on at least one Aston Martin.

We don’t know 007’s next adventure or where it is going to be. So, let’s take a look at some of the best car chase scenes we just can’t get enough of.

  1. Spectre

Spectre was perhaps the most hotly anticipated James Bond film since Daniel Craig took on the role. The chase scene in the film had an Aston Martin DB10t that was built especially for the film, and in it, Bond is being chased through the streets of Rome by Mr. Hinx who is behind the wheel of a Jaguar C-X75. It took 17 nights to film this particular car chase scene set in Oxford Blenheim Palace.

  1. Diamonds Are Forever

Diamonds are Forever is one of the most popular Bond films, coming out at the height of Sean Connery’s career. In this film, we see an epic high-speed chase in a Ford Mustang in the streets of Las Vegas. This car chase remains forefront in the minds of all Bond fans especially because of the impressive stunt at the end of the scene that took the world by storm; we take to see the Mustang pass through a narrow alley, tilting on two wheels, coming out the other end on its opposite side.

  1. Casino Royale

In the Bond Film Casino Royale, the most unforgettable moment was the horrifying Aston Martin DBS V12 crash during the Bond pursuit of Le Chiffre. The car was specially modified to withstand the impact of a perfectly executed stunt that saw the car rotate seven times while being filmed.

  1. Goldeneye

The Aston Martin DB5 in this move was hailed more for its ability to drive rather than chase. He was driving through the mountains above Monaco, chasing Famke Janssen in a Ferrari 355 through twisty roads that left you sitting on the edge of your seat.

  1. Skyfall

This high-speed chase happens in the crowded streets of Istanbul. The opening sequence sees a Land Rover Defender 100 and a motorcycle engaged in a fast-paced and very dangerous, action-packed scene.

  1. Die Another Day

Behind the wheel of a 5.9L Aston Martin V12, Bond has to navigate the ice al while battling a myriad of weapons including rockets, canons and aerial mines. Even the crew admits that this was a very difficult scene to film and it is one of the most riveting Bond chases of all time.

  1. Tomorrow Never Dies

This is yet another unforgettable Bond classic where Pierce Brosnan works his magic in a BMW 7 series, controlling the car remotely as it is chased around a car park.

  1. Man With the Golden Gun

This was more of an epic car jump than an epic car chase. The 1974 jump of an AMC Hornet X, rotating on a broken Thailand bridge made this film one of the most popular action films of the day.
