2016 Chrysler Town and Country changes, news, price, mpg

The Town and Country from Chrysler is one of the most iconic minivans on the market today. The 2016 Chrysler Town and Country is going to be a brand new model developed from ground up and even though it will share its name with the previous generation, in fact it will have nothing in common with it and it will remain the only minivan in the range with the Dodge Caravan being removed with the 2016 model year. The next generation of the new Chrysler Town and Country 2016 should be officially presented by the end of this year or early 2016, while it will come for sale in the mid of 2016.

2016 Chrysler Town and Country redesign

Just as we said, inside the new Chrysler Town and Country 2016 there is going to be an adequate level of quality and comfort. As standard the car will be available with seven seats, leather upholstery, a customizable infotainment system, an 8 speaker audio system as well as front electric seats. Options are going to include satellite navigation, a triple zone automatic climate control system, electric rear seats and even a panoramic roof.

On the exterior the 2016 Chrysler Town and Country is going to change, but to what extent we don’t really know for sure considering there are only a few spy shots of a camouflaged prototype. We can see though that the headlights are going to borrow from the shape of the Cherokee and the rear end of the car will feature big tail lights with included LED and a dual exhaust system which is probably there even on the smaller turbocharged engine.

Chrysler Town and Country 2016 specs

In terms of engine, the new Chrysler Town and Country 2016 is going to ditch the old naturally aspirated V6 in the favor of a smaller 2.4 liter turbocharged inline 4 which will offer around 220 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. This will provide similar performance to the older V6 but better fuel efficiency. The top of the range engine is expected to be the 3.2 liter Pentastar V6 with 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. As standard, the car will come with a 6 speed manual and front wheel drive but a 9 speed automatic is going to be available as well as a four wheel drive, similar to what the Cherokee has.

2016 Chrysler Town and Country price and changes

The new Chrysler Town and Country 2016 should be replacement for itself and Dodge Caravan, so even though it will be a more upmarket version than the Caravan, it will cost only slightly more with an expected entry level price of around $26,000 which is nearly $5,000 less than the previous version. As you would expect, there are going to be a few cuts made in order to achieve this price, so the entry level engine is going to provide less power but the interior of the 2016 Chrysler Town and Country is going to remain as comfortable and luxurious as before with a lot of equipment in the base form which will manage to top that of a few more expensive cars.
