2016 Kia Optima price, news, turbo

All-new 2016 Kia Optima isn’t just a carried over model. It is the first iteration of a whole new, fourth generation. It is sharper and slightly larger than its predecessors which means that Koreans are ready to take a bigger piece of the pie in the next few years. The new Kia Optima 2016 definitely looks better than the outgoing model. Additional powertrain choice raises the fuel efficiency as well, and there are a few features which should make it more tech-savvy then before

2016 Kia Optima redesign

As mentioned above, looks more menacing than before, especially in its top grade where chromed signature grille melts with laid-back headlights. Perfectly rounded off wheelbase length of 110 inches has been compromised by addition of 0.4 inches. That’s enough, however, for mid size sedan to look visually longer. Finally, rear fascia gets larger and longer tail-lights which stretch across the bigger part of the trunk lid and overhang’s sides. There are three new colors:  Vibrant Blue, Dynamic Grey (with olive undertones) and Deep Red.

Interior is the same in all available models, at least visually. Depending on chosen trim level, however, 2016 Kia Optima can offer a range of luxury grades; from base cloth upholstery to the top leather-wrapped cabin. Dashboard is now more upright and angular, but instrument panel’s mild orientation towards the driver still remains. Top grades still get the same touch screen display which now sits atop the center stack and offers to serve as an interface between the driver and navigation, connected smart devices and safety systems for additional fee. Optional feature set includes 14-speaker Infinity sound system with 630 watts, 360-degree rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking feature, blind spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alerts.

Kia Optima 2016 specs

Apart from carried over duo of engines, the new Kia Optima 2016 gets the third option. 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder which is supposed to give 178 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, it is tied to 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission which should make it the most fuel-efficient unit in the lineup. Carried over 4-cylinders are 2.4-liter naturally aspirated and 2.0-liter turbo unit which respectively make 185 horses and 178 lb-ft of torque, and 247 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Like before, they get the 6-speed automatic gearbox.

2016 Kia Optima mpg and price

Fuel efficiency of the new Kia Optima 2016 with old powertrain units should remain similar to 27 mpg combined or 24 mpg combined depending on whether you choose naturally aspirated or turbo engine respectfully. New, 1.6L turbo four should surpass these figures with ease and become the best choice if you require non-hybrid fuel-efficiency. Finally, the 2016 Kia Optima price range should remain in $22,000 to $28,000 region, with the exception of Limited grade models which cost around $35,000.
