2016 Honda Ridgeline news, changes, redesign

There have been a lot of people who loved the Ridgeline but also an equal amount who didn’t like the car a bit because of its odd design in comparison with the other trucks on the market. This was the main reason why Honda discontinued this model in 2014, making a lot of people sad about it. There are some good news though. There are plans for new 2016 Honda Ridgeline which Honda say that it will be a lot more pickup truck than the previous generation. This would mean the boxy look and even the funky looking cab will be gone in the favor of more normal ones. The Honda Ridgeline 2016 will come with new engines, transmissions and other technology updates than we can see in previous models.

The exterior of the truck however will be a lot more common than it used to be, which may or may not be a good thing. If Honda manages to market it just right than we could have a real winner on our hands. The new 2016 Honda Ridgeline will have more rounded front side of vehicle with narrower windshield. When we speak about interior it will likely be a lot more conservative than the older generation. Most of the accents and inspiration should come from the Accord which is right in its price range. This would allow Honda to keep the costs down and the quality on par or even better than the competition. Standard equipment is likely to include automatic air conditioning, satellite navigation or an infotainment system, all electric seats and also a premium audio system.

Honda Ridgeline 2016 specs

There aren’t any words yet on the engine that will power the new pickup truck but considering their other SUVs and cars, it would probably feature a 2.7-liter inline-4 as a base engine with around 180 horsepower while the top end engine will likely be a 3.5-liter V6. This would mean that just like the previous model, 2016 Honda Ridgeline will be a front wheel driven truck with an on-demand all wheel drive system. This isn’t that bad because it means that the fuel consumption should be better than that of the competing models.

The Honda Ridgeline 2016 could also be the first truck to use a hybrid system on the market. This would be a 3.5-liter V6 coupled to an electric motor and a set of batteries for up to 300 horsepower which would make it more than capable of handling the competition. When properly equipped 2016 Honda Ridgeline towing capacity should be around 5,000 pounds.

2016 Honda Ridgeline release date and price

Honda released a teaser picture that shows the profile of the Ridgeline as a pretty normal pickup truck. The only drawback here is that if it will be normal it will have to compete with cars such as the Chevy Colorado or even the VW Amarok. The 2016 Honda Ridgeline release date hasn’t been announced yet but it is expected to come somewhere in the late 2015. The base price of new Honda Ridgeline 2016 shouldn’t be higher than $25,000, meaning it will be almost $5,000 less than the current generation.
